Karl grew up on a farm in northeastern Ohio, before attending Thiel College in Greenville, Pa.  There, he graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in biology, originally intent on going to dental school.

Instead, he chose to earn a master’s degree in accounting from The Ohio State University in 1978.  He became a certified public accountant in the State of Ohio in 1983. Karl’s career was varied, involving many industries including banking, offshore oil drilling, steel and aluminum processing, and the medical device field. Ten years ago he was hired as the controller for Havens Limited in Columbus, Ohio, later becoming the CFO overseeing the law firm, as well as Cardinal Title Agency, Inc., and other entities associated with James R. Havens.

We are saddened by his death.
